A diet rich in the inorganic phosphates found in many natural and processed foods might accelerate the growth of lung cancer, but researchers say more study is needed. Phosphates are found in leafy vegetables, fruits, meats and poultry products, and are added to foods including baking powder, carbonated cola drinks, ice cream, bread, rolls, macaroni, fruit jellies and preserves.
