Timothy Geithner, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and President-elect Barack Obama's nominee for Treasury secretary, has said that Sheila Bair, chairwoman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., is too focused on protecting the FDIC rather than the broader financial system and that she is not a team player. Insiders expect Geithner to try to push Bair out of office, but doing so may be quite a challenge.
