General aviation facilities are ripe for economic-stimulus funding targeted for "shovel-ready" infrastructure projects, says Steve Tackes, counsel for Nevada's Carson City Airport. Experts say every dollar spent on a general aviation airport generates $2.50 for its local economy because the airports support firefighters, search and rescue teams and civil air patrol as well as agricultural-spraying, fuel-sales, aircraft-maintenance, air-taxi, charter-transportation and flight-training businesses.
