Investors picked up beaten-down financial stocks to help boost indexes across Asia on Thursday. The MSCI index gained 1.5%, Japan's Nikkei 225 Average advanced 1.9%, South Korea's Kospi rose 1.14% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index climbed 0.6%. HSBC shares helped spur the index, gaining 3.6% after eight straight sessions of losses.
