Telling a job candidate he or she is overqualified for a job is one of the worst things a hiring manager can do, says Lance Haun at YourHRGuy.com. First of all, it sends the message the company hired someone less qualified and secondly, it's "stupid" to think a candidate should somehow get less qualified.
