Motivating students to behave well and work hard with free tickets, fun activities and positive calls home to parents is central to a Massachusetts district's plan to improve its students' academic achievement. "We're seeing a real change in atmosphere in the schools," said Superintendent Richard Silverman. "Motivation is an integral part of it. ... Student attendance is up, disciplinary behaviors are down, and we're seeing homework completion rates increasing."
