A study analyzing medical records for more than 60,000 children found only 10% of those who were overweight got that diagnosis from their health care provider. Researchers say weight-related diagnoses were given to 54% of obese patients and 76% of the severely obese. They say providers are missing an opportunity to counsel overweight patients before they become obese.
