Permeable pavers allow rain to seep into the pavers to eliminate standing water before filtering the water into the groundwater, creating a sustainable drainage system. The city of Neenah, Wis., installed the pavers along its riverfront development. "The permeable pavers remove water effectively, are easy to clean and maintain, and aren't slick for pedestrians, even in winter," said Karen Harkness, a director of community development.
