In the first three days of winter sales in France, shoppers spent as much as 5% more at shops including Galeries Lafayette, BHV and Printemps. Retailers reduced prices more this year than last, according to the CNCC, the national council of shopping centres. "I have the impression that it was necessary to do a bit more than last year to stimulate consumers," CNCC head Jean-Michel Silberstein said.
