U.K. scientists found that mice that received a combination of Genzyme's Mozobil, a transplantation drug, and the VEGF growth factor produced about 100 times more endothelial and mesenchymal stem cells into the bloodstream compared with those that did not undergo the treatment. The technique could be used to treat autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, researchers said.
