There's a lot of bad news these days, and sharing that news with employees can be traumatic. Karen Harned, an executive with the National Federation of Independent Business, says it's best to make the announcement early in the day and to make sure everyone gets the news at the same time. Also, she says, don't hide the bad news in a bunch of jargon, but do present a plan for the future so employees can focus their energies on something positive.
