The Canadian government says it plans to review the proposed $499 million takeover of Nova Chemicals, Canada's largest chemical maker, by International Petroleum Investment of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Canadian investment law allows the country's industry minister to block any takeover of a company worth more than $251 million if the deal fails to offer "net benefits" to the economy. In May, the acquisition of MacDonald Dettwiler by Alliant Techsystems was rejected.
