Irritable bowel syndrome is one of the most common gastrointestinal problems, and while it usually does not lead to more serious problems it can be embarrassing and frustrating, writes Dr. Bruce Kaler. He says one way to help manage symptoms is to identify IBS triggers, such as stress, certain foods or other illnesses. Having a consistent diet high in fiber and getting enough fluids also help to reduce symptoms.
