Workers in Augusta, Ga., are installing 60-inch water pipes that will run under the historic Augusta Canal as part of a plan to expand a water-pumping station. The city removed nearly 200 yards of canal bank for the project, which required draining the canal over a two-week period to protect its banks from sudden draw-down. Officials expect the project to take another eight to 10 weeks to complete.
