The capacity for wind power in the U.S. could reach 187 gigawatts by 2020, according to a report from Emerging Energy Research. However, the capacity could be limited by the lack of transmission lines to carry the wind power. "The inability of transmission build-out to keep pace with wind project development activity will increasingly constrain the growth of the U.S. wind power market in the near-term," said Matthew Kaplan, senior wind analyst with Emerging Energy.
