A study expected to be released in May, "Betting the Corporation: Compliance or Defiance?," shows deferred and nonprosecution agreements between U.S. corporations and the Department of Justice dropped from 40 in 2007 to just 16 in 2008. However, almost half of the corporate pretrial deals involved Foreign Corrupt Practices Act infractions, the report stated. The complete results of the study will be published in the Corporate Counsel Review of the South Texas College of Law.
