Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he will introduce legislation aimed at reforming electric transmission line development in the U.S. The bill will call for President Barack Obama to designate renewable energy zones that have clean-energy-generating potential. Reid acknowledged that critics are reluctant to give the federal government more authority over construction of electric transmission lines, but he noted that the government must be involved for the proposal to work.
