A study of nearly 19,000 Americans found people with vitamin D levels that measured less than 10 nanograms per milliliter of blood were almost 40% more likely to have had a respiratory infection than those with vitamin D levels of 30 ng or higher. Researchers also said people with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were even more likely to suffer from vitamin D deficiencies.
