The number of cell phone users who accessed Wi-Fi networks gained momentum in January in the U.S., Europe and Asia, according to the mobile-advertising seller AdMob, which said the heaviest usage in the U.S. emanated from the West and Northeast. Globally, Internet requests made via Wi-Fi reached 6.8 billion, an 8% gain from December as Western Europe saw year-to-year increases of 132%, led by Spain and Italy.
