A 17-year study of about 400 women treated with radiation for Hodgkin's disease as children found they were almost 40 times more likely to develop breast cancer later in life, compared with women who did not have Hodgkin's disease. Researchers also found that the risk rose with the radiation dose, and the women had an increased risk of developing malignancies in both breasts.
