American Airlines shrank its available seat miles by more than 1 billion in February, but that 10.1% drop was not enough to offset declining demand, as monthly traffic slid 13.5%. Traffic and capacity fell in proportion at US Airways, with both down 9.3%. Alaska Airlines saw its load factor increase fractionally as a 10.5% capacity cut slightly outpaced a 10.2% drop in traffic.
