As banks and other big corporations face pressure to unload corporate aircraft, airports such as Charlotte/Douglas International Airport in North Carolina are seeing a slowdown in business aviation. Following its acquisition of Wachovia Corp., Wells Fargo & Co. closed its Hawkaire aviation subsidiary and plans to sell five airplanes, while Bank of America, based in Charlotte, has plans to sell three airplanes and a helicopter.
