New blood tests for celiac disease are making diagnosis easier and faster and have led to an increase in the number of diagnoses in recent years, according to Dr. Ciaran Kelly, director of the Celiac Disease Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The increased awareness also has led food manufacturers, supermarkets and restaurants to offer more gluten-free items.
