The state of Washington will use $341 million in federal funds to fix state roads and highways under a law signed this week by Gov. Chris Gregoire. A $3 million paving project funded by the stimulus package could begin within three weeks, and construction on lane additions and interchange improvements on Interstate 405 will start this summer. The economic-stimulus package, along with state gas-tax receipts, will create 20,000 jobs in the state, Gregoire said.
