Technologies designed to allow physicians to evaluate people without personal visits and other forms of telemedicine could reduce health-related expenses "while delivering quality care" to patients, said Dr. Joseph Kvedar, director of the Center for Connected Health. Pacemakers and other devices with remote-monitoring features could prove especially useful in the management of chronic ailments, including diabetes and lung diseases, a recent report found.
