Fiber doesn't generate the attention it should on the nutrition front given the big role it plays in digestive health, weight loss and even cholesterol control, experts say. Americans get only about half of the recommended 25 to 35 grams of daily fiber. Gradually adding more high-fiber foods -- such as fruits, veggies, beans and popcorn -- to a regular diet can help meet recommended fiber targets.
