Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner promised to recoup bonuses that American International Group paid to executives after receiving federal rescue funds. Geithner made his pledge in a letter to lawmakers, who have been increasingly critical of his role in the payments and are launching their own efforts to get the bonuses back through taxes. "Millions lost their jobs; it's an outrage that the people who somewhat caused this problem are now paying themselves bonuses," said Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont.
