Health Care for America Now asked congressional budget leaders and Republican lawmakers to maintain the option of a reconciliation process because the move could expedite the passage of legislation containing President Barack Obama's health-reform initiatives by reducing the number of required Senate votes from 60 to 51. The AARP, however, sent a letter saying that implementing changes to the health care system needs bipartisan support and did not back the reconciliation approach.
