Tracy Petroske, a National Board Certified Teacher, was named an Educator of the Year for her commitment to excellence and her dedication to her students and community.
School programs being implemented nationwide aim to save students from a future of credit card debt and financial trouble. Financial literacy programs teach students about credit cards and other topics, and one bankruptcy judge is calling for mandatory financial courses and testing in schools.
U.S. schools are expected to receive billions of dollars in economic-stimulus money in the next few weeks, and there are plans to invest about $100 billion over the next several months, federal officials announced Friday. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan sent a five-page document to school officials instructing them to spend the money quickly to save and create new jobs as well as help boost student achievement.
