A copyright lawsuit filed by the RIAA against an individual for alleged illegal downloading has gained key support from the Obama administration. A defense team of Harvard law students and their professor is building its case around the premise that the law's penalties, including a fine per violation of up to $150,000, are unduly severe; that the law gives too much power to those holding the copyrights; and that users' due process rights are violated by the law.
