Falling demand for air travel will lead to a 4% drop in commercial aircraft use this year, according to estimates from the Official Airline Guide. "Scheduled airline frequency and capacity cutbacks made over the past six months will have a significant impact on planned aircraft utilization," says Managing Director John Weber. Airlines in North America will reduce aircraft use by 7%, compared with 5% for European airlines, OAG says.
