Self-storage companies, which initially got a boost from the down economy, are moving into tougher times as people dump units to save money. "It will be interesting to see this year if we lose some business because we finally get to the point where the memories aren't worth the monthly rent," said Robert Schoff, chairman and national director of the Self Storage Association. With monthly leases, renters can quickly drop the units as other expenses mount.
