Some small businesses are finding that credit unions are more willing than traditional banks to provide loans. More than a quarter of the 8,147 credit unions in the U.S. offer business loans. Meanwhile, some industry officials are urging lawmakers to change a law that limits a credit union's business loans to 12.25% of assets. Critics say changing the law would give tax-exempt credit unions an advantage over community banks.
