ASTA and the Interactive Travel Services Association have released an analysis of how the antitrust immunity for the Star Alliance would affect distribution of air travel. The travel agent groups have filed objections to granting Continental and United, Lufthansa and the other alliance members antitrust immunity. "To protect the traveling public," the two groups said the Department of Transportation needs to "impose a limited carve-out to prevent collusion and the exercise of market power by the Star carriers in the distribution of air travel services."
