Federal legislation calling for $45 million in spending to boost awareness of breast cancer risks among young women has run into unexpected opposition. A breast cancer researcher and the National Breast Cancer Coalition say the bill, sponsored by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., is unnecessary and potentially harmful because it incorrectly assumes the health care community knows how to help young women reduce their risk of disease.
