Companies, including Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and Nestlé Waters, have introduced bottles that are better for the environment. Coca-Cola's bottle for Dasani is made partly from plant materials, while bottles for PepsiCo's Aquafina and Nestlé Waters use less plastic than in the past.
Companies including Nestlé, Procter & Gamble and Kraft are turning to House Party to arrange home gatherings that also promote products. The company's largest client last year was Hershey, which sponsored 10,000 parties in private homes for its Bliss chocolate brand.
PepsiCo brand Tropicana has teamed with Cool Earth on a program to help save rain forests. Consumers can save 100 square feet of rain forest by going to www.tropicanarainforest.com and entering a code found on Tropicana Pure Premium and Trop50 products.
Coca-Cola Embonor, which produces and sells Coca-Cola Co. products in Bolivia and Chile, says it will invest $33 million this year. The 22% increase will go toward boosting production and distribution, said the company chairman.
