The U.S. Department of Transportation on Monday declared that it has enough information to move forward with the antitrust review of the proposed joint venture among British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia, denying the request from Virgin Atlantic to suspend proceedings. However, the DOT has ordered British Airways to hand over a confidential document, dismissing claims by the carrier and American Airlines that they should not be required to provide the information. The airlines say the document has "confidential business information and non-responsive documents concerning British Airways' short haul network, airport contracts, and security measures."
