Behavior specialist Deborah Lipsky, who has autism, continues giving advice on helping children overcome behavior problems. She urges parents and educators to use applied behavior analysis to deal with violent outbursts and to avoid unintentionally rewarding students who use tantrums to manipulate the behavior of others. Parents and educators need to work together to ensure responses are consistent, she says.
