A study that followed nearly 40,000 Swedish men between 1998 and 2004 found that men who ate salmon, herring or other fatty fish once weekly had a 12% reduced risk of heart failure, compared with men who ate no fatty fish. Researchers also found that men who consumed about .3 grams of omega-3 fatty acids daily had a lower risk of heart failure compared with men who had little or no omega-3 fatty acids.
