A study shows that more Americans are eating snacks in place of full meals, and want snacks with more flavor and nutrition. Snacks with whole grains and other healthful ingredients are popular, as are ones considered gourmet, with trendy ingredients such as curry and black truffle.
Baltimor, the leading ketchup maker in Russia, will be sold to Unilever as part of a plan to expand in a key market. The company makes ketchup, mayonnaise and tomato paste, which are sold under the Baltimor, Pomo d' Oro and Vostochniy Gourmand brands.
Hershey's 2% chocolate and plain milk can now be sold at restaurants with Autonumis RTS-2 refrigerated dispensers. The milk is packaged in patented dispensing fitments called The Answer that hold 2.5 gallons and have a shelf life of 35 days.
Sponsors say the ALL CANDY EXPO, to be held May 19 to 21 in Chicago, won't be hindered by the recession because candy routinely still performs well in lean economic times. More than 450 exhibitors are expected.
