Is it time for Moore's Law to be amended? Carl Anderson, a research fellow at IBM, says that only cutting-edge microprocessors will continue to experience exponential growth in the future because day-to-day applications will no longer require the latest and greatest in chip design. What's more, he asserts, the cost of the R&D needed to keep up with Moore's predictions is becoming unfeasible for the typical company. Then again, Anderson isn't the first to predict that the famous predictor was wrong.
