North Carolina parents of middle-schoolers soon could be allowed to choose between the existing abstinence-only sex-ed curriculum and a more comprehensive course. "I believe there is a health crisis in North Carolina concerning our teens with respect to pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection," said Rep. Bob England, D-Ellenboro, a physician who co-sponsored the bill. "One important way to bring these numbers down is education."
