The San Diego area's scientific, academic, biotechnology and political expertise will be harnessed for a virtual facility aimed at attracting federal and state money to promote the commercial use of algae-based products. The new San Diego Center for Algae Biotechnology will "focus on building a segment of that community to create biofuel and other products out of algae," said Marye Anne Fox, chancellor of the University of California San Diego.
