Longtime ad-agency executive Charles D. Peebler Jr. died Saturday at 72. Peebler ran Bozell & Jacobs when it was a regional agency with billings of about $20 million and transformed it into the powerhouse marketing and communications firm of Bozell, Jacobs, Kenyon & Eckhardt, with billings of $4.3 billion. When BJK&E was acquired by True North Communications, Peebler headed the combined firm. He was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame in 2001.
