The potential for a swine flu pandemic to affect travel, tourism and the struggling U.S. economy sparked a drop in crude oil prices and declines in airline stocks as the ATA relayed carrier reports of passengers with flu-like symptoms and the Centers for Disease Control advised Americans to curtail non-essential travel to Mexico. "A flu outbreak is the last thing that the global economy needs," said a St. Louis markets strategist.
