U.S. researchers were able to map the transcriptome of a hematopoietic stem-progenitor cell line called CD34+ using gene expression patterns and other relevant data. The work might lead to a better understanding of hematopoiesis, in which hematopoietic stem cells transform into mature blood system cells. The map, however, does not contain the complete transcriptome for this line, and further work is needed, the researchers said.
