The federal-stimulus package will provide $1 billion for water infrastructure projects throughout the country, including the repair of aging dams and upgrades to water-delivery systems. For instance, California is slated for $260 million, while nearly $108 million will be used for irrigation and upgrade projects near the lower Colorado River and $88 million will aid Arizona projects. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation will distribute the funds.
