Stronger building codes, subsidies for energy-efficient investments and a more integrated design approach are some ways to cut energy use in buildings, according to a new report by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. The report predicted that energy use by buildings could be reduced by 60% by the middle of this century. However, it also noted that energy-saving technology by itself is not enough to achieve that goal.
