Eight key nominations and appointments during President Barack Obama's first 100 days were milestones for women of color, writes C. Nicole Mason, executive director of the Women of Color Policy Network at New York University's Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. "This new cadre of women ... bring[s] knowledge of the economy, environment, education and housing to the table, but [also] a keen familiarity with how issues are impacting communities across race, class, gender and geographic location," Mason writes.
