Federal stimulus funds will ease the downturn in the nation's construction, but they will not revive the industry, said Ken Simonson, chief economist at a trade group. Simonson expects the economic recession, the longest since the end of World War II, to affect the outlook in the construction industry until at least 2010. He noted that the government must repair the credit system and housing market for the economy to recover.
